Ikea Hack TV Console

I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect tv console for our room. The one we have currently doesn't give us the storage we need.

I fell in love with this beautiful piece by none other than the brilliant and talented Jonathan Adler.

It has the PERFECT amount of storage and it fits right in with what our bedroom decor will be (once we finally finish it!). Of course, this piece is not even close to being in our price range so I decided a piece from Ikea might be a more budget-friendly choice, and with all the Ikea hacks out there, I'm sure I could find a way to turn it into a piece we love.

I have been pondering this for a while but I found this blog post today that inspired me to share my ideas with you guys. Her idea is absolutely brilliant--I can't wait to see the finished product!

My initial idea was to use the Ikea Besta shelf unit:

With this base:

And add these cabinet knobs:

And perhaps some sort of mirrored paper cut into half circles for under the knobs.

That was until I checked the measurements. The cabinet height (even with the footed base) is not high enough to be at eye level with our bed. So, we had to rethink everything. We've decided to keep the cabinet but to mount it on the wall instead. We won't have the base any more but we can still use the same cabinet knobs. The change made me look into other options for cabinet pulls and now I am thinking about using something like this instead:

Tell me, what do you think? Should I keep the hardware I originally wanted to use, or go for a completely different look using traditional chinese hardware?
